JCGT papers to be presented at I3D, extended I3D papers to be published in JCGT

As part of the continued relationship between JCGT and the ACM SIGGRAPH Symposium on Interactive 3D Graphics and Games, papers published in JCGT have the option to be presented by the authors at the annual I3D conference. This year, the following JCGT papers will be presented at I3D in Montreal, May 15-18, 2018:

In addition, many of you may know that I3D has had some changes this year, with the upcoming Proceedings of the ACM (PACM) on Computer Graphics and Interactive Techniques. I3D papers accepted as long papers will appear in the I3D proceedings and also be published in PACM. It has not been clear how that will affect the long-standing relationship between I3D and JCGT that has allowed JCGT papers to be presented at I3D and selected I3D papers to be extended to JCGT.

I am happy to announce that this relationship will be continuing in both directions. Any short papers at I3D will still be eligible to be invited to extend to JCGT. Papers invited to JCGT will be announced at the conference in Montreal. These papers do need to be extended with material not included in the original I3D paper, but given JCGT's focus on "Gems"-like details, there is often a JCGT paper hidden in the work already done, but not reported for a traditional academic conference paper. Invited extensions will receive a second review, focusing on the fit of the extended paper to JCGT and the merits of the new material.

Though invited extensions are a fast track to getting the unpublished details of a technique into JCGT, we welcome submitted extensions from any conference. Please refer to the original and identify your paper as an extension when submitting.
